Ryan Riegner Business Card

Traditional printing processes have always seemed limiting whenever it comes to the production standards of our common era in design. As a culture, we have become so used to CMYK and spot colors and stamping foils that they no longer hold their luster and wonder that they used too. Moreover, as designers we tend to gravitate to these media outlets because they are comfortable and reliable. But design can be applied to any medium or process that our imagination creates, many of which are waiting to be discovered, situated in the processes of the natural world. For my BFA thesis, I discovered a series of new production techniques of "wonder" that graphic designers can use as commercially viable platforms for communication. My business cards are 1 of 10 of these processes, and they are the first real manufactured product of my thesis. They rely on rotating encrypted moire patterns to reveal multiple graphics.
